Shadow Lake Village Golf Club

Golf Course Rules

Revised February 2007

ID BAG TAGS AND PICTURE ID—Each resident who uses the golf course must carry an official SLV golf bag tag and a SLV picture ID.  Tags are available at the Administration office and should be attached prominently to the bag.

PLAY SCHEDULE—No play may begin before 8 AM unless authorized by the Board.  Play must cease at dusk.  The course is closed for maintenance every Monday from March 1 to November 30 (except holidays).  When closed, red flags are posted at the 1st, 2nd and 7th tees and behind the greens at #s 4 and 9.

During golf season and during the month of October, Ladies Golf has exclusive use of the entire Golf Course on Tuesday mornings until 11:30 A.M. regardless of the number of players or groups participating.

Lakers enjoy the same privilege on Wednesdays.

SEASONS—After 2 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the summer season (April 1st through October 31st), residents without guests may begin play on any open hole.  A hole is “open” if players on the prior hole have not yet left the tee box.

MINIMUM AGE—No person under age 16 is permitted on the golf course at any time.

PRACTICE—No practice is permitted on the golf course except on the putting green adjacent to the first tee.

ERRANT GOLF BALLS—Players are responsible for any damage to residents’ property caused by errant shots.

CARTS—Hand-pulled golf carts are allowed.  SLV-owned electric carts are also allowed, subject to the rules governing their use (see last item).

DIVOTS, RAKES, AND BALL MARKS—Players shall help maintain the course by replacing fairway divots, raking sand traps, and repairing ball marks on the greens.  Traps should be entered and exited at the lowest point to minimize footprints.

GOLF ETIQUETTE--Players shall be courteous and considerate of other players on the course, shouting only to yell “Fore!” if a shot may endanger another player or resident.  Silence shall be the rule on the tees when a player is addressing his or her ball.  When the course is crowded, twosomes should invite a single or other twosome to join them.  Slow players should invite fast players to play through if the hole ahead is open.

GROUPS—No more than four players are allowed in any playing group.  Each must have his/her own bag and clubs.  Non-players are not allowed to accompany players.

GUESTS—A resident with guests must start on the first tee after legibly registering the guests in the gazebo.  Each group of guests must include at least one resident golfer.  Guests must be signed in, regardless of the month, season, or weather.  Guest fees are $5 per guest weekdays and $7 weekends and holidays.  Note:  Single residents with “Single Resident Guest Pass” must also sign in all guests.

NON-RESIDENT OWNERS—Non-resident owners are not permitted to use the golf course except as a guest of a resident.

APPAREL—Appropriate golf apparel shall be worn.  This is meant to discourage the wearing of undershirts, sloppy clothing, and inappropriate footwear.  Shoes with heels or metal spikes are forbidden on the course.  Golf shoes should not be worn in the clubhouse.

TOURNAMENTS—Events sponsored by recognized SLV groups will pre-empt open play.

RANGERS—Rangers are authorized to ask to see your IDs and to report rule infractions to the Violations Committee for appropriate action.  Where immediate action is required, Rangers are empowered to call Security for assistance.

CLOSING THE COURSE—The Golf Committee chairperson, the Trustee liaison to the Golf Committee, and the golf course Superintendent are the only people authorized to close the golf course for any reason.

ALCOHOL—No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the golf course.

ELECTRIC GOLF CARTS—

(a) Association-owned electric carts may be used by physically handicapped resident golfers who have filed a doctor’s certificate yearly with the Administration, and who have signed a statement acknowledging the Association policy limiting power cart use to the golf course only.

(b) Carts may be used for 9 holes of play from March 1 to November 30, weather permitting, based on the judgment of the course Superintendent.

(c) A season medallion can be purchased from the Association office ($100) and displayed prominently on the cart being used.  The medallion is the personal property of the purchaser and is not transferable.

(d) Carts must observe the 90-degree rule at all times to minimize tire tracks and damage to fairways.  Carts must be kept 30 feet or more from all greens, including behind the greens, and must never be driven between sand traps and greens.

(e)  Non-handicapped golfers and playing guests may ride along in the cart, but guests must be signed in at the gazebo.

(f)  For golfers recovering from short-term disability, a doctor’s certificate must be filed.  Daily cart use fees will be billed at the guest rates ($5 weekdays; $7 weekends and holidays).  Carts must be signed out from the Security gatehouse, where the name of the user will be recorded and one of the four Security medallions will be issued.  This must be returned after completion of play.
