LANDSCAPE GUIDELINES
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
A – Inspect Village common
grounds; identify landscaping work for consideration, as well as the necessary
trimming, pruning and replacement of trees and large bushes.
B – Make recommendations to
assist the General Manager in establishing priorities for landscaping work.
C – The committee and
chairperson have neither jurisdiction over nor responsibility for the golf
course.
MISCELLANEOUS GUIDELINES:
A - The cutting or removal
of flowers, shrubs or other vegetation from roadway islands and other common
ground gardens by residents is prohibited.
B – Vegetable plants are
inappropriate anywhere in the Village, except in the Association gardening area
on the “point” on the lakeside near
C – Landscape changes in the
common ground areas require approval of the General Manager. If approved, all plantings become the
property of the Association. If a
request is denied the owner may submit a written request to the Board to have
the decision reconsidered. Applications
are available at the Administration Office.
D – Unauthorized changes in
landscape – The General Manager may require the owner to restore the property
to its original condition at his or her expense or the Association will restore
the property and the cost will be charged to the owner.
FOUNDATION PLANTINGS:
A – Owner is responsible for
area within four feet from the unit.
These plantings may be changed, added to or cut back without General
Manager’s approval. Growth patterns of
these plantings should not interfere with any common access paths, sidewalks,
utility lines or routine maintenance operation.
Plantings should not exceed five feet in height and no climbing vines
are permitted. (See recommended list of
suitable shrubs for foundation planting).
RECOMMENDED FOUNDATION
SHRUBS: (partial list)
Spreading Yew Ilex Azalea
Barberry Bush Cotoneaster Heather
Boxwood Dwarf Holly Dwarf Rhododendron
Shrub Rose Arborvitae (globe, and
low growing varieties)
B – The
Association, at its discretion
may offer assistance to take actions in the maintenance, pruning or removal of
overgrown or “unsightly” areas.
C – When a unit is vacant it
is the responsibility of the owner to arrange to have the foundation plantings
maintained (at owner’s expense) as required by the Association.
D – Level of mulch or soil
at foundation must be below the bottom edge of
siding to help prevent damage to siding, (moisture, mold,
termites etc.).
